As we face unprecedented times, it is normal to feel uncertain or fearful.โฃ
โฃ
Unless you went to some strange apocalyptic nursing school, I guarantee you your training did not prepare you for a worldwide pandemic. โฃ
โฃ
So repeat after me: I am enough. โฃ
โฃ
To the nurse who stepped away from the bedside for fear they might carry the virus to a vulnerable family member: youโ€™re enough. โฃ
โฃ
To the nurse who shows up every day with a smile on their face but fear in their heart: youโ€™re enough. โฃ
โฃ
To the outpatient nurse who is wondering how theyโ€™ll pay their bills while furloughed: youโ€™re enough. โฃ
โฃ
To the new grads like me in their first year of nursing still trying to learn the ropes and jumping in whenever they can to help: youโ€™re enough. โฃ
โฃ
To the nursing students who feel helpless while clinicals are cancelled: youโ€™re enough. Youโ€™re out future. โฃ
โฃ
To the critical care nurse exhausted with bruises on their face after a long shift who faces losing patients daily: youโ€™re enough. โฃ
โฃ
Whatever you have to offer right now is enough. Even if that is waking up to face another day and practicing self care and preservation. โฃ
โฃ
So STAND TALL. Nurse on. Support each other. โฃ
โฃ
... and in case you havenโ€™t it heard it yet today, Iโ€™m proud of you. โฃ
